We are looking to recruit a laser cutting operator to cut a range metal including. stainless steel, aluminium & mild steel at our Macclesfield site.

The successful applicant must have the following skills –

  • Confident with computers & file management.
  • A strong work ethic & be able to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of general workshop housekeeping & Health & Safety
  • Good timekeeping.

Training will be given so that the role can be completed in a safe and efficient manner, this may be a mixture of external & in house training.

The basic role will comprise of the following requirements –

  • Identify, organise & store sheet material that are to be cut.
  • Load & unload materials to the laser machine using a FLT & Jib Crane and hoist.
  • Select programmes/ parameters & upload to the laser machine
  • Cutting parts from pre-programmed nests
  • Adjusting parameters to ensure good & efficient cut quality
  • Unloading & identifying cut parts using reports & labels.
  • Ensuring the laser area is always kept tidy
  • Liaising with Production Manager daily to ensure correct parts have been cut.
  • Undertaking weekly maintenance of the laser machine.

Normal working hours are 8am-4pm Monday – Friday. 37.5 hours per week.

10 Min paid break at 10am, 30 min unpaid lunch break – 12.30-1.00pm

25 days holiday per year plus eight bank holidays.

The role has the potential to develop in to programming via SigmaNEST to nest parts and run the laser department.

Alma Sheet Metal Ltd currently have an opportunity for Skilled Metal Polisher to join our team.
Working in a busy shop floor environment in our Macclesfield workshop using a range of equipment and processes to polish to a high standard, fabrications for the food, Pharmaceutical, water & textile industries.

The ideal candidate must be confident / skilled in using a range of hand tools, machines, abrasives belts & mops to remove welds & polish bespoke fabrications to a high standard in a range of finishes including satin and mirror.

Essential skills required –

  • Removal of welds using abrasive belts / stones, dynafiles etc to crack & crevice free.
  • Produce a cosmetic finish to a high standard using flexi buffs & straight grinders.
  • Be flexible for assisting in other areas depending on manufacturing requirements.
  • Adhere to & promote a good attitude to Health & Safety & operational procedures.
  • Display a professional, acceptable attitude & image for all work associated with & undertaken on behalf of the company.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Work closely with the production manager to achieve delivery dates.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 8am-4pm 37.5 hours per week.
25 days Annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
